ZKU JSCo Presents Circular Center “Georgi Petrov”: A Strategic Investment in a Sustainable Future

In line with its ESG strategy for a low-carbon transition, ZKU JSCo announces the commissioning of its latest high-tech unit – Circular Center “Georgi Petrov”. The project is named after Mr. Georgi Petrov, honoring his legacy through innovation aimed at addressing significant environmental challenges.

Challenges in managing end-of-life rubber waste occur on a regional, national, and global scale, where the lack of sustainable alternatives often leads to landfilling or incineration with high CO₂ emissions. Our new unit shifts this paradigm by implementing an innovative technological response that transforms industrial waste into a valuable economic asset and directly supports the global pursuit of a low-carbon transition.

At the heart of the center is a specifically developed grinding and pulverizing installation by SIEMPELKAMP Size Reduction Solutions GmbH & CO. KG, enabling the full transformation of both vulcanized and non-vulcanized rubber. With an operational production capacity of 80 tons per month and scalability up to 120 tons, the technological process is fully optimized for a closed-loop production cycle, generating two strategic products with zero residual waste:

Rubber Granules (2 – 4 mm): For high-durability infrastructure and shock-absorbing flooring.
Rubber Powder (under 200 microns): A premium additive for Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen (CRMB) and specialized rubber compounds.

This project is more than an internal initiative – it is a resource for the entire industry and a key element of our Integrated Management System (ISO 14001 and ISO 50001). Through Circular Center “Georgi Petrov”, ZKU JSCo definitively closes the polymer life cycle, becoming a manufacturing facility with zero technological waste. Through this strategic transition to a “Zero Waste” model, we not only contribute to national circular economy goals but also set a new standard for sustainability and environmental responsibility in the sector.
